As a DONA-trained, holistic doula, Rachael provides client-centered support to laboring people by encouraging them to self-advocate for the preservation of their bodily autonomy. This typically involves two prenatal informational appointments, one postpartum visit, and physical and emotional support during labor.
Rachael has previously worked as a nanny for a toddler and newborn in Brooklyn, and as a ballet teacher in New Orleans for kids ages three through six. She is a certified Mandated Reporter through D.C.'s Child and Family Services Agency, and prioritizes her doula services to low-income, first-time mamas of color.
"I don't care what kind of birth you have: a home birth, scheduled cesarean, an epidural hospital birth, or if you give birth alone in the woods next to a baby deer; I care that you had options, that you were supported in your choices, and that you were respected." -- January Harshe, Birth Without Fear
